What I Watched in December 2023
A voyeuristic journey into my watch list from the previous month.
Here it is: the collection of everything I watched in the previous month. This is my version of director Steven Soderbergh’s annual list of movies, TV shows, and books consumed, although Hunter Harris also provided a lot of inspiration. My version is limited to a watch list (although I’ll share some of the things I read through other channels), and I’ll include a brief thought or two on each film or show.
Look for monthly updates at the beginning of the month. If you have any suggestions for things I need to watch or read, let me know!

New Release - Seen Dec. 1 at home
Wow. A thrilling roller coaster ride of psychology. This feels like a modern Tennessee Williams adaptation, not unlike a tawdry version of The Glass Menagerie. Natalie Portman is subtly engaging in her best work since Black Swan. But at the center of this story? Charles Melton, who finds the embodiment of a 12-year-old boy perennially stuck in the body of a father to college-age children.

New Release - Seen Dec. 1 in theaters
Moral of the story? Listen to your wife. A nice tip of the hat to a long legacy of Disney princess stories just in time for Disney’s 100th anniversary. Look for the abundant princess references throughout the movie.
