Ah yes, the ubiquitous “monthly favorites” post. Instead of forcing myself to go out and do interesting things all the time in the name of content (a somm must study and work some time, right?), I’m changing it up and handling my favorite recommendations on a monthly basis.
This template is loosely based on one created by fellow Substack writer Tembe Denton-Hurst. If you haven’t already read her writing, give her a follow immediately. Also, Tembe is a recent subject for The New York Times’ Sunday Routine (something I look forward to reading every week), and it does not disappoint.
Here we go…
The Highlight Reel
A few of my favorite moments from the month.
Pouring wine for an event designed for women in business! The evening was a lot of fun, and there was a lot of beautiful work (and women supporting female-led businesses) in the details.. You know that rule about the people you spend time with? Now I understand why my entrepreneurial side has been especially active lately.
Exploring more fun things to do in the East Bay and Marin. Hubby and I have been curious about hidden treasures in the Bay Area, and we’ve stumbled on some fun activities like the Rosie the Riveter National Historic Park.
Getting out of my comfort zone and trying to be more active on social media. It comes in fits and spurts, and there’s still a whole lot of imposter syndrome to work through, but I’m proud of the fact that I’m trying.
